Well here we are again, happy as can be, all good pals and jolly good company.
Happy New Year all!
H.V.V.’s first gathering of the year was on the banks of the Williams River at Clarence Town, a small but pleasant township north of Newcastle.
The weather alternated between cloud, rain and sun and was humid enough to make a desalination plant jealous. However, it not stop the ‘Mini-Olympics’ being played, a combination of Quoits, Disc Bowls, Boule and Golf. The champions of the day were Maureen Cotton and our President, the one and only Ron Doherty.
I must say I thought Gary was a bit inconsiderate by placing his motor home in the way of some fine golf shots!
The sad news came to us of the demise of Marianne, wife of Erwin. I first met this lady about six years ago, and was struck by her smart turnout and friendly smile. The only time she lost this smile was when Father Christmas omitted to give her a kiss while doing his rounds, so, she insisted that he backtracked and was given an extra long one by way of compensation.
"AUF WEIDERSEHEN MARIANNE".
Ray and Cora visited us for the day after an enforced absence, well done Ray. We welcomed new members by the name of Norm and Sandra Baxter.
