Hunter Valley Venturers Gresford March 2010

The threat if inclement weather did not deter 53 members in 29 motor homes from meeting at East Gresford for our March get together of H.V.V. Most welcome were, Ozzie and Irwin, Pat and Terry Daunt with Grandkids, who came for the day. It was also good to see Rae and Peter, back after a year’s absence.

A rare milestone in anyone’s life is to be 60 years married, well, Heather and Arthur, AKA Pauline and Alex Williams achieved this anniversary on the 4th March. Congratulations you two! When I asked what advice they would give to any aspiring spouse, their reply was…”Choose carefully”.

Talk about life in old dogs, Trevor Atkins turns 70 this month so, he celebrated by winning the bowls competition, ably assisted by new member Peter Wilson, who’s married to Denise.

Our President Ron Doherty was presented with a PA system kindly donated by Leonie and Trevor. “Come in 99”.

Saturday lunch was a lovely sausage sizzle held under the huge African Shade Trees, where we also welcomed new member Joyce.

The following anecdote, as supplied by one of our members!

Whilst one of our members was cooking eggs and bacon for breakfast, his neighbour was drooling on the aroma. They switched on a fan on the pretext of getting rid of the fumes from the motor home, but they directed the fan straight at their neighbour, who then said, “I must remember not to park near you again”. They then gave him a plate of eggs and bacon, he then replied, “You can park next to me anytime…”Guess who?”

Happy Days
