This April HVV bussed to Broke Common, all arrived safely, some early, some late. John Cotton was late with a shredded tyre, whilst John and Jill suffered a jammed throttle bank. As a result they passed Leonie and Trevor coming up the long hill leaving them far behind. Needless to say John and Jill arrived at Broke before Trevor, at least twice.
A lovely raffle prize was donated by Phyllis and Ray, and it raised $125 for our branch, it was a basket containing a fluffy Easter bunny surrounded by chocolate eggs. Won by a lady named Paula, a visitor unconnected with the club.
A Friday luncheon, cooked by Pat and her helpers, was served up to about 45 members, crumbed fish, mash and peas….for a mere $2 a plate, with free second helpings. Well done Cooks!
Saturday morning saw Ray cook and prepare scones, jam and cream….all of which went down very well. Later, Bob Creely kept us entertained with a selection of poems ably assisted by Jill and Joe. Jill’s poem was a tear jerker.
Rex and Jill retired to their van for an afternoon siesta. Later, when I passed by I noticed a ‘Do not disturb’ sign on the door and three pairs of shoes on the mat. Half an hour later there was ten pair of shoes….Were they put there for repairs?.....Don’t know!!!!
With that I’ll sign off now.
Keep Safe
