Hunter Valley.........02/07/2010 to 04/07/2010
After losing out to lots of rain in June, it was good to get back into the saddle for July, where we graced Patterson with our presence. While the weather was cool and cloudy, 21 units braved the conditions and turned up early on Friday, adding to this number many visitors arrived throughout the weekend.
Two of the visitors were Jan and Frank Eather, they came loaded with a varied supply of pumpkins and jars of honey, all free for the taking, thank you both for that.
As I was watching the disc bowls being played, John Spink sidled up alongside and he asked me to do a sum of addition, he quoted four numbers to be added up mentally, then supply the answer. I got it wrong as did everyone else that he tried it on; it’s all in the mind you see.
The ‘Bring and Buy’ sale held on Saturday morning was a great success, with many bargains being snapped up.
Following later, we held our monthly meeting chaired by our popular and erudite president Ron, back in charge and in full health. He asked that we held a period of silence to remember Gladys Hogg, one of the earliest members of Auswide, being member number 12.
It was a great shock to hear that Ron and our secretary Allan Bush will not be standing for re-election in the coming year; these will be hard acts to follow, so H.V.V. members must now start thinking long and hard to nominate someone to fill their shoes.
