NATIONAL RALLY, 18th. - 24th. October 2011

The 2011 National Rally is being held in Sorell Tasmania

Hi just a brief update from your Tasmanian coordinators about the venue for the coming National Rally in October 2011 at Sorell

An area once renowned for its bushranger activity, the Sorell district was first surveyed by Lt Governor Collins in 1805. The township is one of Tasmania’s oldest and was named after Governor William Sorell in 1821. It is a 30 minutes’ drive, 26 Ks northeast from Hobart and only 10 minutes from Hobart International Airport. Within a 15 minutes’ drive you can be on the 7 mile beach fishing or in the Historic Georgian Village of Richmond, wandering among its many tourist attractions. The township of Sorell offers the tourist everything you need as a comfortable base. It has ample fuel stops, two large shopping complexes, and a R.S.L. club, two fine hotels (serving meals) a comprehensive range of café and eating venues including a Mc Donald’s, a K.F.C., a Pizzeria and a bakery .There are several hairdressers, two pharmacies,( one discount) a hardware store, numerous clothing outlets including Red Shield and Vinnie’s all accessible within a short easy flat walking distance. There is a Police station, Medical Centre, Dentist, and local government and international support groups. During September/October fruit trees are in bloom for “The Cherry Blossom Festival” and the local fruit farm welcome visitors to experience this magnificent event. All in all you can look forward to a great rally venue
